Assistant Controller
Finch Investment Group (FIG) is a private investment and asset servicing firm seeking an initiative-taking and energetic Assistant Controller. The role involves overseeing the accounting function, managing the monthly close process, and ensuring accurate financial reporting while serving as a key liaison with internal and external parties.

Responsibilities
Manage and execute the monthly and annual close process
Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
Ensure accurate general ledger activity and timely issue resolution
Maintain close calendars, checklists, and documentation standards
Prepare and review internal and external financial reports
Support preparation of financial statements and disclosures
Assist with consolidations, intercompany activity, and eliminations
Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
Review and resolve complex accounting matters
Apply and interpret accounting policies consistently
Research accounting guidance and document conclusions
Escalate high-risk or judgmental issues to the Controller
Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for auditors
Coordinate audit requests and prepare supporting documentation
Assist with tax return preparation and data review
Supervise and mentor the accounting team
Review work product and provide feedback and training
Assist with workload planning and resource allocation
Promote continuous improvement and accountability
Identify opportunities to improve accounting efficiency and accuracy
Assist with system implementations, upgrades, and integrations
Strengthen controls and documentation as the organization changes
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
6–10+ years of progressive accounting experience
Strong knowledge of GAAP
Experience managing or reviewing month-end close activities
Prior experience supervising staff
Preferred
Real estate, fund, or multi-entity accounting experience
Experience supporting audits and tax engagements
Experience in a lean or growing organization
Experience with QuickBooks, QuickBase, and AWS Data Reporting
