Clifford Chance Foundation Fellow, Legal
Vera Institute of Justice is dedicated to advancing justice, particularly racial justice, and is seeking a Clifford Chance Foundation Fellow to join their Legal Department. The Fellow will provide in-house legal services, gain experience in nonprofit compliance, and work on strategic initiatives aimed at expanding access to education and employment for incarcerated individuals.

Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive in-house legal services to the organization
Work closely with Vera’s Chief Legal Officer and staff
Receive on-the-job training in nonprofit compliance; negotiation of agreements; lobbying law and regulation; and employment law
Assist with researching legal and regulatory questions confronting national projects
Qualification
Required
Recent graduates of accredited U.S. law schools
Strong interest in the operations of nonprofit organizations
Broad-based curiosity about potentially unfamiliar legal matters
Interest in the substantive areas in which Vera works (including criminal justice, juvenile justice, and immigration)
Interest in non-profit tax issues, employment law, and policy
Scholarship, leadership, and commitment to practicing in the field of nonprofit law
