Receptionist
The Diocese of Austin is seeking a Receptionist who will be responsible for attending to visitors and managing inquiries both in person and over the phone. This role involves providing general administrative support and creating a welcoming atmosphere for all visitors and staff.

Responsibilities
Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of St. Helen Catholic Church in both professional and personal life. Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church. Continuously grow in ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed
Provide, in a pleasant and professional manner, a cordial welcome to all visitors and callers to the parish. Create a welcoming, open, and helpful atmosphere for staff and visitors
Answer incoming phone calls, take accurate messages and route them to staff in a timely manner
Provide general administrative and clerical support, primarily to the Pastor and Associate Pastor
Provide general information regarding parish events
Assist the faithful when buying candles and flowers for the chapel and sanctuary, to schedule Mass intentions to include the clerical endowment fund, mail receipts and mass intention cards, notify ministry leader about requests for hospital and homebound list, and place people on prayer list
Keep up to date anointing, funeral, and visitation lists
Handle incoming and outgoing mail. Keep meter system updated with postage. Maintain office supplies inventory
Maintains availability throughout the week to serve the needs of the parish during and outside of normal church office hours
Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge of Roman Catholic teachings, parish and diocesan structure
Ability to work in a multi-cultural parish serving various cultures and a wide range of age groups
Ability to provide excellent customer service and work effectively with staff, clergy, and laity
Ability to operate various word-processing software, spreadsheets, and database programs
Ability to organize, prioritize and utilize effective time management techniques
Ability to effectively work with constant interruptions
Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
Ability to carry out multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Ability to follow instructions furnished in verbal or written format
Ability to proficiently communicate in English and Spanish (writing, reading and conversing)
High School Diploma or GED acceptable to Texas Education Agency
One (1) year of full time wage earning related work experience is required
Bilingual English-Spanish (proficient in writing, reading and conversing)
Must be a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing
Valid Texas driver's license
Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period
