Responsibilities

Performing CPT-4 and ICD-10 coding from appropriate source documents, in accordance with all UFHP, B/AR and department standards related to billing protocols and compliance

Training physicians and other staff regarding documentation, billing and coding

Providing feedback to physicians regarding billing practices

Participating with practice management in the oversight of certain practice billing activities as in certain billing follow-up activities

Performing various administrative and clerical duties required to support these functions

May be required to perform other tasks on an as needed basis

Qualification

CCS certificationCPC certificationCPT-4 codingICD-10 codingMedical terminologyHuman anatomy knowledgePhysician coding experience

Required

High School graduate or equivalent

CCS or CPC certification required (must be obtained within one year of employment, if not currently held)

Knowledge of medical terminology required

Minimum of six (6) months of prior physician coding and abstracting experience required

Preferred

Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology preferred
