Clinical Research Budget Analyst - REMOTE

Responsibilities

Perform deep-dive reviews of clinical trial protocols, informed consents, and lab manuals
Determine which medical procedures are "routine care" (billable to insurance) versus research-only (billable to the sponsor) based on CMS National and Local Coverage Determinations
Develop audit-ready billing grids that dictate how every procedure in a study is routed through the hospital billing system
Analyze industry sponsor budget proposals against the internal protocol complexity to ensure all costs (staff effort, supplies, overhead) are covered
Negotiate financial and payment terms directly with biotech and biopharma sponsors to secure favorable funding
Collaborate with Principal Investigators and study teams to align the budget with the actual operational needs of the trial
Manage a diverse portfolio of studies, tracking progress through an internal database or ticketing system to ensure timely approvals
Maintain meticulous records of budget versions and correspondence for institutional record retention
Identify and escalate financial or compliance risks to leadership when study terms do not align with federal or institutional guidelines
Serve as a subject matter expert for research staff and faculty, providing guidance on complex billing policies
Help develop standardized tools, SOPs, and training materials to improve the efficiency of the clinical trial startup process
Participate in internal project teams to refine workflow designs and improve institutional metrics

Required

Bachelor's degree in Science, Business, or Healthcare Administration
3+ years in coverage analysis, clinical research coordination, or healthcare operations
Working knowledge of Medicare Clinical Trials Policy, specifically NCDs and LCDs
Ability to perform Medicare Coverage Analysis, develop study budgets, and negotiate with industry sponsors
Ability to translate complex scientific and financial data for investigators and sponsors while providing high-level customer service
Proven ability to manage a high-volume portfolio and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred

Master's Degree
Experience with OnCore
Professional certification such as CCRC, CCRP, or a specific Coverage Analysis certification
