Staff Software Engineer

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and evaluate software from concept through production stage, and make modifications as needed
Works autonomously
Exercises independent judgment with broadly defined practices and policies in obtaining results

Develop and maintain Yocto builds including writing and maintaining recipes, layers, and configuration files
Proficiency in Linux shell scripting and command-line tools
Experience with Linux-based application development, deployment, and maintenance
Manages software projects adhering to internal ISO standards
Has knowledge of the business side and contributes to strategic decisions

Required

Minimum of a bachelor's degree in software engineering, in field related to specific position
Advanced engineer with 8+ years of career experience, with bachelor's degree in software engineering or 6+ years with master's degree. Or experience in lieu of education
Demonstrated advanced and specialized knowledge in software engineering disciplines relevant to the position, with recognized technical expertise as identified by department leadership
Expert-level proficiency in C, C++, Java, Python, and web technologies, with the ability to apply these languages across complex, large-scale systems
Advanced proficiency in Linux shell scripting and command-line tools, including automation, troubleshooting, and performance optimization
Extensive experience with Linux-based application development, deployment, and maintenance in production environments
Strong ability to apply software design theory and methodology to architect scalable, maintainable, and robust systems
Demonstrated ability to lead technical problem analysis and apply advanced problem-solving techniques to complex and ambiguous challenges
High level of customer service skills, with the ability to translate customer and business needs into effective technical solutions
Proficient with computer systems and productivity tools, including Microsoft Word and Excel, to support documentation, analysis, and reporting
Self-motivated team player who works with minimal supervision, provides technical leadership, and collaborates effectively across teams and disciplines

Preferred

Working knowledge of manufacturing techniques is preferred, with the ability to integrate software solutions into manufacturing or production environments
