Prairie Consulting Services is seeking a Payroll Analyst to manage payroll for over 7,000 employees using Workday. The role involves processing payroll, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, and collaborating on payroll process improvements.

Responsibilities

Process end-to-end payroll in Workday for 7K+ employees (including quarterly and year-end activities)
Review payroll adjustments for authorization, compliance with policies, and tax regulations
Respond to payroll inquiries, explain pay adjustments, and educate on policy changes
Provide backup support for team members and collaborate on payroll process improvements
Analyze payroll policies to ensure compliance with federal and state tax laws
Test and review payroll system changes, including Workday releases and payroll improvements
Conduct second-level reviews and mentor team members
Monitor regulatory and legislative changes for compliance
Participate in payroll meetings and process optimization projects

Required

10+ years of overall payroll experience
Expertise in federal, state, and local tax regulations
Proficient in payroll production, garnishments, year-end processing, and tax filings
Strong understanding of payroll accounting and employment taxes
Experience with International payroll (Canada experience a plus)
Solid technical knowledge of Workday and payroll systems
Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work under deadlines
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and multi-tasking skills

Preferred

Experience in a high-volume payroll environment (7K+ employees, ideally 10K)
Strong collaborative and independent work skills
Ability to recommend and implement process improvements
