Technology Product Intern - State Examiner System
The Conference of State Bank Supervisors (CSBS) is dedicated to advancing the nation’s dual-banking system and promoting safe financial supervision. The Technology Product Intern for SES will lead the development of a business case for incorporating consumer complaint analytics, involving market research, user assessments, and feasibility analysis.

Responsibilities
Conduct Market & Landscape Research such as analysis of how federal agencies, state agencies, and private-sector regtech platforms utilize consumer complaint data. Benchmark existing complaint analytics tools and identify gaps/opportunities for SES
User & Stakeholder Needs Assessment such as interviews with state regulators, examiners, and SES user groups to understand their needs, pain points, and workflows involving consumer complaints
Data and Integration Feasibility Analysis: Catalog of available complaint data sources (e.g., private sector and public information, federal repositories, state systems)
Cost–Benefit & Impact Assessment, to map the potential impact of complaint analytics on examiner efficiency, exam quality, consumer protection outcomes, and cross-agency visibility
Business Case Development: Help structure, draft, and present the SES consumer complaint analytics business case
Qualification
Required
Currently pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Business Information Systems, or Business Administration
Coursework in public policy, economics, data science, business, or related fields
Experience with basic data analysis or visualization tools
Clear written communication and presentation abilities
Familiarity with financial regulation, consumer protection, product strategy, or analytics
Ability to support business case development leveraging Excel, Word, and PowerPoint tools
Due to the nature of CSBS's business in support of state financial services supervision, all CSBS employees have the potential of interacting with confidential information related to the supervision of financial services companies ('Confidential Supervisory Information'). As a result, in addition to general business conflicts of interest, all CSBS employees are expected to disclose conflicts of interest in financial services companies on at least an annual basis and to proactively avoid such conflicts
Protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of CSBS information and information systems in accordance with CSBS policies and procedures
Candidate must be in the DC area and able to work in the CSBS office as needed
