Responsibilities
Take responsibility for regional development, coordination, monitoring and improvement of technical competencies of business class staff and products to meet client needs and market drivers
Oversee the delivery of project services and deliverables to meet client expectations
Collaborate on business class efforts with company operations, marketing and management
Develop client relationships to grow existing business and attract new business
Build and develop an internal network and project teams
Plan and direct medium- to large-sized environmental planning and compliance projects for a variety of freight rail transportation projects
Perform complex assignments, making independent decisions on problems and methods
Prepare, plan, and analyze/review technical studies, permit applications, NEPA documents, and similar reports/documents
Accomplish work independently and through coordinating or supervising small to large technical and professional teams from local and regional offices
Support regional or national projects in specific areas of technical expertise
Be closely involved in public participation and multiple agency coordination
Take responsibility for project management, including developing and managing budgets, schedules, and the quality of products
Serve as Project Manager on larger projects as needed, but project management is not the sole focus of the position
Perform other duties as needed
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field
10 years experience in related field
Experienced in development and management of diverse teams
Works cooperatively with other business class regional directors, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers on business class efforts
Committed to quality, improvement and HDR values
An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
Preferred
10+ years of experience in the Freight Rail Industry, leading projects of various sizes
Environmentally related certifications are a plus
Experience leading large-scale and long-term projects
Knowledge of industry-specific challenges and trends
Ability to build and develop a project delivery team
