Responsibilities
Designing, prototyping, analyzing, and launching new product categories at Apple
Owning the mechanical design of specific parts or modules within the product
Performing engineering analyses on designs using methods such as hand calculation, computer simulation, FEA, and dimensional tolerance analysis
Participating in design reviews and preparing issues lists
Providing feedback to foresee potential design concerns
Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams including Industrial Design, Project Management, Materials, Manufacturing, EE, Display, Camera, Antenna, Battery, and more
Creating drawings and collaborating with vendors to produce parts
Being flexible and providing review and support on several aspects of a project simultaneously
Preparing slide presentations and participating in working meetings
Qualification
Required
10+ years of experience in product design and development of electromechanical systems
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (or related field)
Strong analytical skills with regard to mechanical engineering theory
Experience working in technical project groups in a professional environment
Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and 2D creation (NX, SolidWorks, Creo)
Proficiency in performing tolerance analyses
Deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including statics, dynamics, heat transfer, and materials science
Experience with tolerance analysis and GD&T
Experience working with a variety of manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, injection molding, 3DP, casting)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including emails, slide presentations and presenting technical concepts to multi-disciplinary teams
Experience working with external manufacturing vendors
Preferred
Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering
Fluent in Siemens NX including advanced modeling and surfacing tools, statistical software (JMP), MacOS
Experience working through entire product cycle including shipping product experience and factory build support
Previous role as a hands-on mechanical lead of a mass production consumer electronics products
