Lead SCADA Engineer

HRize LLC is seeking an experienced SCADA Technical Lead to provide subject matter expertise and lead the technical delivery of Instrumentation & Control (I&C) and SCADA system implementations within the Gas Industry. The role involves overseeing the technical implementation activities, ensuring adherence to industry standards, and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to improve operational efficiency, safety, and reliability.

Responsibilities

Lead the technical implementation of Gas Control Room and SCADA systems
Provide hands-on expertise in SCADA architecture, including redundancy, failover, disaster recovery, and high-availability designs
Develop and review technical specifications, system architectures, blueprints, and integration roadmaps
Oversee software configuration, programming, data migration, and system integrations
Ensure adherence to industry standards, best practices, and project technical requirements
Provide expertise in real-time data acquisition, databases, and SCADA analytics
Design and implement Gas Control Platforms and SCADA replacement solutions
Support design-build project implementations in coordination with system integrators
Ensure proper integration with Operational Technology (OT) infrastructure, including virtual servers, networks, and field devices
Work within established Project/Delivery Management Methodologies (SDLC, Hybrid/Waterfall)
Support project management activities including: Schedules, Risk registers, Change management logs
Create and submit: Daily, weekly, and incident reports, Weekly time tracking and approvals, Weekly labor utilization reports comparing hours expended to remaining project hours
Act as a technical liaison between business and technical teams
Communicate technical concepts and progress to non-technical stakeholders
Collaborate with internal teams including SCADA engineering, enterprise architecture, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and compliance
Work closely with project management, change management, and technical subject matter experts
Attend and actively participate in end-user site validation and testing sessions
Identify technical and operational risks and develop mitigation strategies
Ensure system reliability, security, and compliance throughout implementation
Escalate issues proactively to maintain project momentum
Lead and mentor technical team members across multiple remote locations
Foster a collaborative and high-performance team environment
Provide training, documentation, and knowledge transfer to ensure long-term operational sustainability

Required

3+ years of SCADA experience delivering I&C or SCADA system implementation projects
Experience with AspenTech / OSI Monarch SCADA software in electric or gas utilities (gas preferred)
Experience working with control system integrators
Experience leading or coordinating teams in distributed/remote environments
Proficiency with project management tools for scheduling, risk tracking, and change management
Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix & CompactLogix PLCs
Hands-on experience with Rockwell FactoryTalk HMI/SCADA systems
Hands-on experience with Operational Technology (OT) environments, including virtual servers and industrial networks
Strong understanding of SCADA architectures and real-time control systems
Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (OPC, Modbus, DNP3)
Strong understanding of alarm management, trending, and visualization best practices
Strong understanding of industrial cybersecurity principles and controls
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience

Preferred

Experience in the gas or energy utility sector, including regulatory compliance
Direct experience with AspenTech Gas Control platforms
Familiarity with cloud-based SCADA, edge computing, and IIoT integrations
Scripting or automation experience (e.g., Python, PowerShell)
Ability to lead complex technical efforts with minimal day-to-day supervision
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management abilities
Ability to work effectively through ambiguity and escalate issues when necessary
