Responsibilities

Lead and supervise the paralegal team within the Public Safety Section
Ensure high-quality litigation support and compliance with federal court standards
Implement process improvements for the Public Safety Section in collaboration with the Division Head and Section head
Serve as primary supervisor for all paralegals in the section and oversee workload distribution
Monitor deadlines, enforce case management protocols, and conduct audits for compliance
Serve as liaison between the paralegal team, attorneys, and client agencies
Provide advanced litigation support for complex cases and those handled directly by the Section Head
Support with briefing, filing, coordinating discovery, preparing trial materials, court support as needed, organizing exhibits, and assisting with strategic case planning

Required

Graduation from an appropriately accredited institution for paralegal training and three years of experience as a paralegal
Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of substantive paralegal experience
High school or General Education Development (GED) diploma and seven years of paralegal experience performing delegated, substantive legal work
Thorough knowledge of the program areas or legal specialties to which the employee will be assigned
Thorough knowledge of case, statutory, and common law
Thorough knowledge of judicial and quasi-judicial procedures and the rules of evidence
Ability to perform legal research in accordance with preliminary instructions as to methods or approach, source material available, and policy and precedent of the office
Ability to summarize facts and evidence, and prepare legal instruments
