Responsibilities
Design, prototype, and validate mechanical and mechatronic subsystems for minimally invasive surgical devices
Develop 3D CAD models, drawings, and assemblies; review peer designs with a focus on performance, reliability, and manufacturability
Select materials and components appropriate for precision, miniaturized mechanisms
Execute hands-on testing and experimentation to characterize performance and inform design decisions
Partner closely with manufacturing to optimize designs for DFM/DFA and support design transfer
Document development activities in accordance with medical device requirements (design history, test reports, technical documentation)
Contribute to continuous improvement of existing products with a focus on quality, speed, and cost
Qualification
Required
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals and hands-on problem-solving ability
Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred)
Experience designing precision mechanical components, with exposure to manufacturing processes such as injection molding, CNC machining, additive manufacturing, or stamping
Curiosity, ownership mindset, and ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Preferred
Medical device experience is a plus, but not required
