General Dynamics Electric Boat is seeking highly motivated individuals to support the design and construction of the COLUMBIA Class submarines. The Engineer I - Systems role involves collaborating with design personnel and engineering disciplines to develop design disclosures and troubleshoot design build problems during submarine construction.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with design personnel and other engineering disciplines to develop design disclosures such as cabling diagrams, wiring tables, schematic wiring diagrams, cable routing sheets, and assembly and detail drawings to support COLUMBIA Class construction

Collaborate with electrical technicians, and deck plate engineers to quickly troubleshoot and develop resolutions to design build problems that occur during submarine construction

Develop component procurement specifications and managing vendors that design, manufacture, and qualify components for the COLUMBIA Class

Perform stress analysis, shock motion calculations, voltage drop calculations, and illumination calculations

Development and review of functional requirements documents, system descriptions, and 3D ship modeling

Required

Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering is required

0-4 years relevant experience

Working knowledge in Microsoft Office applications, especially in Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint and VISIO is required

The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense secret clearance is required

Preferred

Master's degree in Electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering with experience with electrical or electromechanical design, and Systems Engineering is preferred

Experience in subcontractor management including supplier selection, contracting, negotiations, risk management, and quality assurance is preferred

Experience in system component requirements definition and analysis, component design and qualification, and component integration is preferred

Experience in ship construction is preferred
