Responsibilities
Join the Security Engineering and Architecture organization which provides operating system security foundations across all of Apple’s innovative products
Contribute to the entire system, from the kernel up through libraries, frameworks, and applications
Impact the design and implementation of Apple’s desktop and operating system products, collaborating closely with all other security stakeholders
Tackle challenging wide-ranging engineering problems anywhere in the software stack, determining the appropriate compromise between several often competing factors such as ease of use, performance, and security
Cultivate product innovation, rapid product iteration, and a liberating amount of autonomy to build and quickly bring to market new security methods and technologies to address the sophisticated needs of mobile and distributed computing
Interact with and influence many people from several organizations within and outside the company
Qualification
Required
At least 5 years of experience as a Software Engineer in a systems programming or kernel development role
Highly competent with at least one systems programming language and secure coding practices, C or C++ as an example
Deep understanding of operating system internals, language runtimes, and compilers
Ability to deliver proven work on tight schedules
BS in Computer Science or equivalent software development experience
Preferred
Initiative to provide architectural mentorship to teams lacking resident security expertise
Ability to critically analyze security properties of a system via a threat model
Red team mindset when developing security software
