Real Time Crime Center Technician
Commerce City is looking for a Real Time Crime Center Technician to support the police department with advanced technology and investigative skills. The role involves operating drone systems, monitoring police camera systems, and providing situational awareness during incidents while assisting sworn officers in the field.

Responsibilities
Oversees the deployment, navigation and operation of drone as a first responder (DFR) for call response and police overwatch and support
Monitors and operates an integrated system that combines calls for service in designated priorities
Monitors police department camera systems to provide situational awareness to responding resources during in-progress incidents
Monitors police department camera systems to provide proactive surveillance of public safety situations within the community while coordinating an appropriate police response
Monitors police department gun-shot detection system and helps coordinate appropriate police response while providing DFR overwatch and support to respond to officers
Situational awareness will include but is not limited to, tracking evolving situations, remote viewing of body-worn cameras, identification of possible suspects and suspect vehicles, locating fleeing suspects, and calling for additional resources when on-scene personnel are unable to do so
Assists and communicates with sworn officers in the field utilizing two-way radio and/ or other forms of communication
Responds as appropriate to calls for service of varying priorities evaluating the ongoing need for an in-person officer response, and deals with calls remotely when appropriate including contacting reporting parties via telephone, authoring reports, and making recommendations for field follow-up when required
Provide video monitoring of activities during special events, protests, or other large gatherings
Respond to requests for video evidence during and/ or after critical incidents as well as post-incident investigations
May assist the Records Unit with sharing digital evidence as required
Responsible for directly booking evidence to maintain chain of custody legal requirements
Provides court testimonies as needed
Clears calls for service as appropriate for cold calls and other non-priority call types at the direction of the supervisor
Performs related duties as required to meet the needs of the City
Takes proper safety precautions to prevent accidents. Responsible for the safety of self, others, materials, and equipment. Uses all required safety equipment and follows all safety regulations, policies and procedures. Reports all accidents and damage to city property
Responsible for knowing and complying with all City and department policies; participating in professional trainings and development; and adhering to attendance and workplace attire policies

Qualification
Required
Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED
Two years' work experience in a law enforcement/ public safety environment
Strong skill set in technology familiarization and utilization
Organizational administration skills
Communication skills
Investigative skills
Hand-eye coordination
Navigational and drone piloting skills
Ability to monitor and operate an integrated system that combines calls for service in designated priorities
Ability to monitor police department camera systems to provide situational awareness
Ability to monitor police department gun-shot detection system and coordinate appropriate police response
