Product Design Engineer

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a growing organization to find a motivated Product Design Engineer. This role involves driving full-cycle product development for next-generation automotive systems, focusing on creating manufacturable designs and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

Create and refine 3D models and detailed drawings using Creo
Develop robust, manufacturable designs for automotive applications
Incorporate simulation results, test data, and engineering best practices into design improvements
Work with injection-molded plastic parts and other engineered materials
Serve as a key technical contributor throughout the development cycle
Collaborate with program management, quality, testing, and manufacturing teams
Support technical discussions with internal stakeholders and external partners
Help track engineering deliverables and support milestone execution
Support the creation of validation plans and the execution of testing activities
Contribute to fixture development and validation setups
Maintain engineering documentation including BOMs, ECNs, DFMEAs, drawings, and related records
Provide design ideas that enhance product performance, reliability, and cost
Participate in R&D and new-technology initiatives
Support the evolution of engineering standards and design methodologies

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Professional product design experience
Previous experience with injection molded components
Proficiency in Creo, including modeling best practices
Ability to interpret engineering/test specifications
Familiarity with FEA/CFD tools and simulation‑driven design
Understanding of fluid dynamics or thermal/fluid analysis software
Experience working cross‑functionally in a technical environment
Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and collaborative)

Preferred

MBA or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Engineering is a plus
Previous experience in project engineering or R&D, ideally within an automotive OEM or Tier 1 supplier
Exposure to high‑volume production environments
Experience working directly with customer engineering teams
