Responsibilities

Develop relationships with governmental bodies, managed care organizations and other business partners as needed to ensure timely payment for SAFY’s services
Monitor industry and regulatory trends, develop and communicate plans to manage the impact of future health care / behavioral health reform
Lead operations of benefit eligibility, authorization management, claims processing, payment posting, accounts receivable collections, and refunds for a given segment of SAFY’s business
Maintain working knowledge of requirements of assigned contracts and assure required documentation is provided in the format required for individual contracts
Responsible for the collection of the dollar amount of all invoices for assigned divisions and the accurate posting of payments according to EOB received
Establish contact with agency representative regarding any invoices which become 40 or more days past due and determine means of collection
Manage payer data to determine denial and underpayment trends and provide corrective actions to improve performance
Manage and resubmit denied claims in a timely fashion to ensure maximum payment to SAFY Assist in month end close and reporting responsibilities
Maintain a rolling 4-week projection of cash collections
Monitor compliance with all third-party payor regulations, exception handling, appeals and denials
Assist in external financial statement audits, insurance audits/inquiries, and internal compliance requests
Ensure basic accounting principles are followed and periodically review and assess industry standards

Required

Bachelor's degree in business or health care administration
Five plus years of experience in a healthcare billing position (without BA degree)
Resolution skills to demonstrate effective problem solving
Operate a computer with Microsoft Office, financial programs, reporting tools, agency databases and online systems
Possess excellent financial, analytical, and statistical skills
Strong attention to detail/organization skills and ability to multi-task
Excellent communication and customer service skills, both oral and written
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and sensitivity of information and exercise good judgment and discretion in handling and disseminating information

Preferred

Certified Professional Coder preferred
