Director of Nursing (DON) Assisted Living and Memory Care

Friendship Village is a premier Life Plan Community located in St. Louis, seeking a qualified individual for the position of Director of Nursing. The role involves managing resident care services, coordinating admissions, and ensuring the safety and well-being of both residents and staff.

Responsibilities

Provides care management services to residents, ensuring the completion of pre-admission, assessment/reassessment, and the negotiated service plan in conjunction with the resident’s family, physician, FV clinical staff, and other necessary individuals
Serves as a liaison between the community, residents, families, and physicians. Facilitates and encourages family involvement with residents. Participates in family/resident counseling
Coordinates admission with the AL Sales Counselor and assists in orienting new residents to the facility, helping to ensure satisfactory integration
Shares responsibility for providing and maintaining an environment conducive to resident’s and staff's safety and physical and emotional well-being
Develops and continuously evaluates individual resident care plans
Records information to determine the quality of service to residents and directs staff to implement needed change. Holds weekly care plan conferences with clinical staff and other disciplines as required
Monitors and maintains records reflecting residents' health and mental status and promptly reports any changes in condition to his/her physician
Monitors medication regimen and resident’s response. Makes recommendations regarding medication to the physician. Works with the pharmacy consultant to ensure the appropriate handling, dispensing, and destruction of medications
Coordinates resident discharges and transfers, ensuring proper labeling and packing of residents' belongings when necessary
Investigates, documents, and helps resolve resident and employee incidents with the Administrator

Required

LPN or RN nursing license required
Two years' experience in geriatric nursing
Minimum of two years of nursing administration experience, preferably in a long-term care setting
Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Solid interpersonal skills and building relationships with staff, leaders, vendors, and other stakeholders
Expert level written and verbal communication skills. Excellent communication and grammar skills are required
Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability
Demonstrate the highest level of customer/client service and response
Ability to achieve high-performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment with an attention to detail
Work collaboratively in a team environment that promotes inclusiveness and communication among team members
