Quality Assurance Equipment Engineer

AOI is a manufacturing company that integrates optical, electronic, mechanical, and photonic technologies to build high-speed optical transceivers and CATV systems. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Equipment Engineer to support our quality department's semiconductor device reliability & qualification tests, as well as activities related to quality control for production lines. The role involves installation, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of equipment to improve efficiency and ensure compliance with quality standards.

Responsibilities

Install, qualify, calibrate, and maintain reliability test equipment, measurement tools, and quality control tools, ensuring they are operational
Troubleshoot complex equipment issues by 5M1E and implement corrective and preventive actions
Monitor equipment performance metrics and drive improvements in uptime, throughput, and cost of ownership
Collaborate with production engineering, quality control, and manufacturing lines to optimize tool performance and process integration
Develop and maintain detailed documentation, including equipment SOP procedures, technician/operator training records, troubleshooting guides, and equipment logs
Interface with equipment vendors for upgrades, retrofits, and technical support
Ensure compliance with cleanroom protocols, safety standards, and environmental regulations
Support the introduction of new technologies and capacity expansion projects
Continuous Improvement - Leading and participating in quality improvement projects to enhance product quality and reduce defects. This includes utilizing methodologies such as Six Sigma and Lean
Training: Provide guidance and support to production teams in operating qualification and reliability equipment, and conduct training sessions on maintenance activities
Work with multiple teams to ensure product quality, functionality, and standards specifications

Required

Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field preferred: Mechanics, Materials, Electronic Engineering, Science, Optical Engineering, Semiconductor, Physics, etc
Knowledge of quality standards, regulations, quality control, and production quality control is a requirement
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Practical communication skills for presenting findings and collaborating with teams
Good knowledge of optoelectronic industry products, processes, and equipment
Excellent presentation and reporting skills, good organization, multi-tasking skills, and exceptional attention to detail
Self-motivated, dependable, and a good team player who can work efficiently with minimal supervision

Preferred

One year of experience in the semiconductor industry and maintenance of photonic integration circuit equipment would be beneficial
Experience with data analysis software and systems
Knowledge of automation systems, robotics, or PLCs (programmable logic controllers)
Understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or TPM (total productive maintenance) methodologies
Experience with PLM (product lifecycle management), SAP (systems, applications, and products in data processing), and MES (manufacturing execution system) software
