Senior Operations Accountant
Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. is seeking a Senior Operations Accountant to serve as the day-to-day financial partner to Project Managers. The role involves managing project financials, ensuring accurate billing and collections, and providing timely financial reporting to support project success.

Responsibilities
Ensure complete, accurate project setup and maintain job‑cost information (time and expenses) per approved budgets
Assist Project Managers with developing cost budgets and projections; assess profitability and recommend actions
Monitor projects in the management portal for revenue recognition and expenses; provide timely inputs and reconciliations
Train and assist Project Managers on the project management portal and financial best practices
Serve as liaison between Project Managers and clients on billing and collections topics
Prepare and deliver timely, accurate invoices in accordance with contract terms on a project‑by‑project basis
Coordinate special billing and collections protocols with Project Managers and clients, document status and next steps
Track subconsultant contracts/invoices; support timely billing and payment with Project Managers
Prepare management reports to reflect project financial status (cumulative billings, earnings, collections)
Support collections using SSR’s AR collection tool; document outreach and coordinate with Project Managers
Partner with Project Managers on overall project financial needs and analysis
Assume additional duties as directed
Qualification
Required
Accounting degree and three years of experience OR eight years of experience in the accounting system of a professional service company or similar organization
Preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel and Outlook)
Knowledge of cost accounting principles and project accounting concepts
Customer‑focused approach with clear verbal/written communication and presentation skills
Strong analytical judgment; organized and detail‑oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Interpersonal skills to partner effectively with Project Managers, clients, and internal teams
