Responsibilities
Owns the monthly close, financial reporting, and general ledger for all departments and service lines
Ensures GAAP-compliant financial statements with accurate accruals, reserves, and revenue recognition
Oversees accounts receivable, cash, payables, payroll, and balance sheet integrity
Manages revenue and reimbursement accounting including Medicare, Medicaid, and other payers
Prepares and supports audits, tax preparation and other compliance and statutory reporting
Implements and maintains internal controls, accounting policies, and close discipline
Leads budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
Partners with RCM to ensure net revenue, AR, and contractuals are accurate and defensible
Supervises and develops accounting staff and outsourced providers
Provides financial insight to leadership for decision-making and compliance
Qualification
Required
5+ years' of professional accounting experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics or equivalent experience
Previous experience in a healthcare setting
Comfortable communicating with executive leadership
Preferred
Experience in an FQHC, community health center, hospital, or other healthcare organization, with understanding of general healthcare accounting concepts
Hands-on experience with Athena Health EHR, including collaboration with billing or revenue cycle teams preferred
Proficiency with ERPs, including general ledger, dimensions, and reporting functionality highly preferred
Strong working knowledge of GAAP, month-end close best practices, and balance sheet integrity
Ability to operate effectively in a mission-driven, fast-paced environment, balancing accuracy, accountability, and collaboration
