The Outside Plant Engineer will play a crucial role in the planning, design, and implementation of the outside plant network infrastructure, overseeing installation, maintenance, and expansion of fiber optic facilities.

Responsibilities

Designing and budgeting builds in neighborhoods and cities for Empire FTTH growth
Contacting land or property owners to share design and gain approval for cable placement and service orders
Responsible for properly permitting construction projects and for maintaining maintenance permits in the various municipalities that Empire operates in
Developing standards and utilizing a vast array of equipment and techniques to feed underground neighborhoods and aerial facilities
Become proficient in understanding fiber network construction, design and develop a thorough understanding of fiber optic specifications. Both backbone and central office equipment
Performs other duties as necessary
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of roadways and pole owners
Multi-tasking, project management, ability to work alone or with a group
Ability to read maps and work with mapping systems, Google Earth, Excel, and Email

Required

Knowledgeable in outside plant engineering practices and the telecommunications industry
Valid PA Driver's License
6-8 week on call rotation with other engineers- after training
Two-year associate degree and five or more years of industry experience with a minimum of two years in telephony
Work with KMZ, KML, PDF and JPEG files
