This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, security, and optimization of SQL Server environments while leading the design and documentation of enterprise data models and architecture to support business and analytics initiatives.

Responsibilities
Administer, configure, and support SQL Server databases across multiple environments
Manage Always On Availability Groups, backups, indexing strategies, integrity checks, and security controls
Monitor database performance and system health, proactively identifying and resolving issues
Automate monitoring and detection of anomalous activity to ensure compliance with enterprise standards
Design and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models aligned with business and analytics needs
Develop and evolve enterprise data architecture, including data integration, movement, and storage strategies
Reverse-engineer existing schemas, perform data profiling, and assess models for gaps and optimization opportunities
Define, document, and enforce data architecture standards and best practices
Create and maintain data flow diagrams and architecture documentation using tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, or ERWIN
Apply and promote modeling standards such as normalization, star schema, data vault, and 3NF
Partner with engineering, analytics, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, high-quality data solutions
Qualification
Required
6+ years of hands-on experience administering SQL Server databases (2012, 2014, 2019, and newer)
3+ years of experience in enterprise data modeling and data architecture
Strong experience creating data flow and architecture diagrams
Proficiency in SQL, Python, and PowerShell for scripting and automation
Experience with data modeling tools such as ERWIN or equivalent
Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and cross-functionally
Preferred
Experience administering and optimizing Snowflake environments
Experience with SQL Server on Azure, including managed SQL instances
Background in asset management or other highly regulated industries
Familiarity with data governance frameworks and best practices
