The role involves preparing bidding documents, conducting inspections, and assisting in public education efforts related to storm water management.

Responsibilities
Participates in preparation of bidding and technical documents for construction of capital projects that cover street maintenance, storm sewer improvements, and sanitary sewer systems. Perform inspections with Lakeland Construction Staff to ensure work meets approved plans and specifications
Performs traffic studies and analysis
Assists in meeting the goals and objectives established in Lakeland’s Storm Water Management Program. This includes assisting in public education; working with the public on becoming involved, conducting illicit discharge inspections, conducting field surveys of storm water system, updating the GIS storm water coverage and working with staff on ensuring storm water controls are implemented during construction
Prepares contracts, memorandums, and resolutions for action by the Board of Commissioners
Conducts field investigations and site inspections to collect data, take measurements, and ensure compliance with plans and specifications
Maintains records and prepares reports on activities
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Enrolled in a bachelor's degree program with focus in Civil Engineering
Knowledge of and ability to apply modern principles and practices of civil engineering
Effective communication (oral and written) skills
Ability to analyze engineering problems and recommend solutions
Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities
Ability to work independently
Ability to plan and organize projects
Computer skills to include Microsoft Office
Valid driver's license
