Unit Chief, Lease Reporting
The Office of the New York City Comptroller works to promote the financial health and integrity of New York City government. The Unit Chief will supervise the Lease Reporting Unit, overseeing daily operations and ensuring compliance with accounting standards while preparing financial reports and managing staff responsibilities.

Responsibilities
Supervise and evaluate staff, including training, establishing tasks and standards, and performing annual employee evaluations
Establish and update policies and procedures for the financial reporting of lease agreements and right to use assets in the City’s Financial Management System (FMS)
Review and stay abreast of changes in governmental accounting standards to be able to amend current operations in order to comply with the change in requirements
Monitor and approve data within the lease module of FMS and correspond with City agencies to ensure accuracy of data
Oversee the processing of encumbrance and payments as they relate to Condemnation awards as requested by the Real Property Division
Oversee the Unit’s year-end responsibilities as it relates to journal entries, reporting and applicable note disclosures, for the preparation of the ACFR
Act as audit liaison for lease requests during the citywide financial statement audit conducted by the City’s independent auditors; and
Work on various special projects as assigned
Qualification
Required
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, accredited by regional, national, professional or specialized agencies recognized as accrediting bodies by the U.S. Secretary of Education and by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), including or supplemented by 24 semester credits in accounting, including one course each in advanced accounting and auditing
A valid New York State Certified Public Accountant license
At least one year of experience as an Accountant - Assignment Level I or at least two years of satisfactory full-time professional accounting or auditing experience
Preferred
Knowledge of FMS and InfoAdvantage required
Understanding of governmental accounting standards, specifically Governmental Accounting Standards Board, statement nos. 87, 94 and 96, required
Supervisory experience, team training or project management experience preferred
Excellent analytical, interpersonal, communication and organizational skills (including Microsoft Office Suite proficiency)
