SENIOR THERAPEUTIC ACTIVITIES ASSISTANT - MDHC

The Senior Therapeutic Activities Assistant assists in the development, implementation, coordination and supervision of recreational and related activities for the MDHC clients, providing care, socialization, and psychological adjustment.

Responsibilities
Assists the Manager/Lead in the development, coordination and ongoing activities of the MDHC program
Assists Lead in the coordination and implementation of day to day operations of the programs including scheduling of client’s activities, group placement and surveys
Ensures all activity documentation, supports registrant’s treatment plan and is completed in a timely fashion
May assist with calls to families regarding scheduling, transportation or interpretation
Provides program staff with guidance and support with programming, activities, events and trips
Works with the Supervisor/Manager of MDHC in preparing the client’s activities calendar and the staffing schedule
Assists Manager with delegation of tasks between activities staff
Acts as a mediator when issues arise within the program team
Serves as a member of the care plan team, relaying information about the clients’ activities and behavior to the other staff members
Participates in the delivery of activities for the participants
Investigates client occurrences, notifies the appropriate members of the care team and prepares occurrence reports as necessary
Ensures adherence to hospital policies and procedures
Closes program at the end of the last session ensuring all clients are on their respective buses
Takes weekend emergency calls from clients, bus company and counselors
Actively participates in meetings and other assigned committees, as directed by the Lead, Manager or Director
May be required to assist with other programs, i.e. volunteers and recreation, as needed
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in a related medical or educational field or Associates Degree with at least two years' work experience in recreation, psychology, education or related field
Two to five years experience working in a pediatric therapeutic program or related field
Must have experience with data entry for documentation
Preferred
Bi-lingual (Spanish) also preferred
