Legal Assistant - Estate Planning & Probate

Wegman Partners is a well-respected downtown Dallas law firm seeking an experienced Estate Planning and Probate Legal Assistant to provide high-level administrative and legal support to attorneys in its estate and tax planning practice. The role involves preparing legal documents, managing client files, and communicating effectively with attorneys and clients.

Responsibilities

Prepare, revise, and proofread legal documents related to estate planning and probate matters
Draft and revise correspondence and transcribe dictation/voicemails
Assist with the preparation of IRS Forms 706 and 709, including compiling asset lists (experience a plus, not required)
Handle incoming and outgoing mail
Answer incoming calls, respond to general inquiries, and route calls appropriately
Open, manage, maintain, and organize client files (electronic and physical)
Calendar deadlines, appointments, and manage multiple attorney calendars
Schedule conference calls and meetings
Arrange business travel and itineraries
Review monthly billing memos and enter attorney time
Communicate professionally and effectively with attorneys, staff, and clients
Maintain strict confidentiality of all client and firm matters

Required

Minimum five (5) years of legal assistant experience, preferably in estate planning and probate
Solid working knowledge of estate planning and probate procedures
Ability to draft or assist with wills and trust documents
Strong filing, typing, and discernment skills
Typing speed of 80+ words per minute
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Exceptional grammar, spelling, punctuation, and proofreading skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Proven dependability, discretion, and ability to handle confidential matters
Ability to work collaboratively while also being a self-starter

Preferred

Experience with NetDocs, Orion, and/or estate tax software is a plus, but not required
Assist with the preparation of IRS Forms 706 and 709, including compiling asset lists (experience a plus, not required)
