Telecommunications Systems Technician II
The California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) is seeking a Telecommunications Systems Technician II to join their team in emergency management and homeland security. The role involves assembling, installing, modifying, and maintaining communication network systems for public safety agencies, while ensuring compliance with FCC regulations and providing technical support to state agency clients.

Responsibilities
Assemble, install, modify, configure, create, program, diagnose, repair and maintain a wide variety of public safety agency communication network systems and equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and engineering instructions
Analyze electronic problems and make repairs at both the system and component levels relating to microwave and land mobile radio (LMR)
Use precision instruments to detect, eliminate, and prevent sources of radio frequency interference on all public safety communications network systems
Manage, configure, create, program, import/export data files for the PSC, service servers, hosts, desktop work stations, VoIP, RoIP, Telephone switches, PBX servers, routers and networking systems used by clients to support public safety communication systems and equipment
Manage MPLS, virtual private wire service (VPWS) services given an existing infrastructure network including modifying, deleting, disabling, re-enabling, and creating these services to support public safety communications networks
Assist and train/instruct others while performing daily public safety telecommunications technical functions
Responding to and resolving public safety communications problems for State Agency clients
Communicate effectively on all written and verbal interactions, frequently interfacing with customers and co-workers to resolve issues and collaborate
Maintain a professional and team-centered environment by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
Work proficiently with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Outlook, and Excel
Travel to and working in remote locations, high elevations, and inclement weather conditions may be required
Qualification
Required
Valid industry accepted FCC certificate or license to interpret and apply the provisions of the laws, rules, and regulations of the FCC relating to LMR and microwave communications
Ability to assemble, install, modify, configure, create, program, diagnose, repair and maintain a wide variety of public safety agency communication network systems and equipment
Ability to analyze electronic problems and make repairs at both the system and component levels relating to microwave and land mobile radio (LMR)
Ability to use precision instruments to detect, eliminate, and prevent sources of radio frequency interference on all public safety communications network systems
Ability to manage, configure, create, program, import/export data files for the PSC, service servers, hosts, desktop work stations, VoIP, RoIP, Telephone switches, PBX servers, routers and networking systems

Participation in the DMV Pull Program and possession of a valid California Driver's License (CDL)
