Faculty Researcher

They are seeking a full-time Faculty Researcher to develop and run an NIH-funded laboratory focused on chronic pain and related fields, while also mentoring and collaborating with other researchers.

Responsibilities

Develop and run a successful NIH-funded laboratory focused on the study of chronic pain, overlapping pain conditions and/or field related to anesthesiology (e.g. sleep)
Collaborate with and mentor other learners and researchers within the UNC Department of Anesthesiology and/or the greater UNC-CH research environment
Serve on the departmental research committee
Occasionally teach research workshops and courses

Qualification

NIH fundingHigh-quality researchPublication recordCommunication skillsMentoring experience

Required

Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree in a relevant field (e.g., physiology, pharmacology, neuroscience, pain research)
Demonstrated track record of high-quality research in pain, anesthesiology or related fields
Strong publication record in high impact peer-reviewed journals
Ability to secure external funding (e.g., NIH grants)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred

Prefer an individual who can conduct both independent and collaborative research
Experience with mentoring graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and junior faculty
