Responsibilities

Ingesting data from the new California Automated Response and Engagement System (CWS-CARES)

Designing research-ready, curated analytic data tables within CDSS’s data warehouse

Performing research and analytics that inform CDSS program decision-making and improve department processes

Overseeing RADD's transition of child welfare analytic reporting from a legacy case management system to using CWS-CARES as its single source of truth

Working closely with IT professionals, child welfare researchers, program policy staff, and external stakeholders to design curated, research-ready data tables

Applying statistical methodologies to answer key program policy questions in a way that improves service delivery and client outcomes in child welfare programs

Serving as the department’s main expert on the use of child welfare data for policy research

A Statement of Qualifications or Supplemental Questionnaire must be submitted along with your application to be considered for this position

Please describe your experience answering policy/research questions from administrative or system data, especially experience with child welfare data if applicable. Include in your description the coding languages you have used and are most familiar with, as well as the data environments you have worked in

Describe a time when you worked with a group of researchers or other data analysts to build a data product (dashboard, report, research project, etc). How did you go about understanding the needs of the team of researchers? What did you build, and how did you iteratively improve it?

You will need to take and pass an examination in order to establish list eligibility prior to job offer

You are required to complete employment history on the application form (STD 678)

If you are meeting minimum qualifications with education, you must include your unofficial transcripts for verification
