Intern - Engineering Intern (Summer)
The State of South Dakota's Department of Transportation is seeking interns for their Pierre Area Office to support their mission of improving transportation. Interns will work on various tasks including project administration, inspection activities, and material testing, gaining hands-on experience in engineering and construction projects.

Responsibilities
Typical work assignments include but are not limited to project administration duties, project inspection activities, testing of materials, surveying, checking materials, and other miscellaneous work such as completing culvert and guardrail inventory
Other duties include assisting office personnel, maintenance, and supervisors on tasks
Assignments will allow you to work in a variety of environments, from the office to the great outdoors
Qualification
Required
Applicant must be a current part-time or full-time student (minimum of 6 credit hours) in upcoming semester or in the immediately preceding semester
Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply
By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program
Preferred
Preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior
Preference may be given to South Dakota residents
Preference may be given to students of South Dakota institutions
