Responsibilities
Prepare advanced designs and layouts as assigned by Discipline Engineer or Project Manager
Complete drawings in accordance with Company and Customer Standards including all line work, dimensioning, cross-references and CAD requirements
Provide and check drafting assignments to Drafters, including checking of coordination with other disciplines
Coordinate work with other disciplines and team members
Mentor less-experienced Designers and Drafters
Travel to project meetings or job sites to aid in project implementation
Provide material selection for equipment and components
Prepare material take offs, lists, schedules and reports as required to complete project documentation
Assist in requisitioning/inquiring project materials including bid summaries
Assist in creating project schedules
Qualification
Required
A two-year technical associate's degree and a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant technical experience or a four-year technical degree and a minimum of eight (8) years of relevant technical experience
Education/experience shall be in a Mechanical, Civil, Electrical or Architectural discipline featuring CAD instruction and computer skills
Proficient in all skills and abilities of a Designer II
Able to assist Project Manager with estimates and proposals by generating drawing lists and entering them in the estimate sheet, preparing Requests for Quotation and preparing post job summaries to estimate hours per deliverable
Able to review Customer's CAD Standards and ensure they are understood and being followed by the Project Design and Drafting Teams
Able to identify training needs for Drafters and Designers. Assist to help find training that meets the Company's needs
Able to assist Project Manager with Performance Reviews for more junior Drafters and Designers
The ability to work overtime, 10 to 20 hours per week when workload is necessary, is required
Some domestic travel may be required
