Responsibilities
Developing themes, color palettes, fabrications, and product silhouettes for upcoming seasons
Collaborating with mills and suppliers to create original textures and patterns
Creating presentation boards, conducting raw material and market research, producing flat sketches and detailed specifications, and overseeing fabric and trim development
Working closely with Merchandising, Sourcing, and Quality to ensure successful product execution and alignment with the Lands’ End brand and customer expectations
Mentoring associate and assistant designers and fostering strong cross-functional relationships
Qualification
Required
Deep expertise in bedding, quilts, sheets, towels, and other soft home goods
Strong understanding of materials, thread count, print, pattern, and color
Ability to develop seasonal product concepts and manage product design
Experience in developing themes, color palettes, fabrications, and product silhouettes
Collaboration with mills and suppliers to create original textures and patterns
Creating presentation boards, conducting raw material and market research
Producing flat sketches and detailed specifications
Overseeing fabric and trim development
Working closely with Merchandising, Sourcing, and Quality
Mentoring associate and assistant designers
Strong knowledge of textile construction, thread count, weave types, and finishing techniques specific to home textiles
Strong understanding of color theory, print and pattern development
Ability to create flat sketches for design and prototypes
Trend interpretation and translation into brand-right product
Familiarity with industry resources and suppliers for home textiles
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Demonstrates advanced knowledge and expertise in home product design
Independently manages complex projects and provides mentorship to junior team members
Bachelor's degree in Textile Design, Industrial Design, or a related field; equivalent experience considered
5-8 years of relevant professional experience in home product design, specifically bedding and bath
Preferred
Advanced degree preferred but not required
