Product Engineer

Ensign-Bickford Aerospace & Defense Company (EBAD) is a leader in innovative technology for aerospace and defense. They are seeking a Product Engineer to evaluate designs for manufacturability and lead the development of new products into production, ensuring successful project execution throughout the production life cycle.

Responsibilities

Development and maintenance of manufacturing documentation (including manufacturing instructions, routings, process specifications and tooling) as well as product testing requirements and methods
Providing continuity during transitions from proposals to production by acting as the main technical liaison between the customer and EBAD
Solving manufacturing problems, investigating process failures and implementing corrective actions
Coordination with other departments to ensure the production viability of new designs, creation of the required documentation, and internal and customer approval of documentation
Interface with production personnel including operators, quality inspectors, and shop floor supervisors
Implementation of Lean methodologies including standard work, point of use tooling, material presentation and process improvements
Development of automated test fixtures and assembly tools
Development of layouts of manufacturing cell design including tooling, machinery and equipment
Creation of Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA)
Technical compliance and risk assessment
Creating standard work and contributing to manufacturing cell planning
Tracking status and ensuring completion of operations milestones and tasks for production programs

Qualification

Required

BS/MS in an engineering discipline, preferably mechanical engineering or manufacturing engineering
Manufacturing or related engineering experience in multi-part mechanisms and mechanical assemblies

Preferred

Knowledge of space vehicle mechanisms and systems
CAD, 3-D modeling, assembly creation, drawings and GD&T
Design of tooling and fixtures
Design for Manufacturing methods and techniques
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects
Formal problem analysis and resolution
Project management skills with the ability to document, plan, and execute programs
Working with aerospace products and processes
Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing practices
Enterprise/Manufacturing Resource Planning (ERP/MRP) systems
MS Office– Excel, Word and Powerpoint. Familiar with and able to work in MS Project
