The Systems Engineering Intern will focus on developing and optimizing integrated acousto-optic devices, collaborating with stakeholders to define specifications and supporting the product development lifecycle.

Responsibilities
Develop, model, simulate, and optimize state-of-the-art integrated acousto-optic devices for ground-breaking specifications
Understand and model acousto-optic interactions in sophisticated optical-MEMS structures
Work with advanced technology development to understand and optimize MEMS manufacturing process
Create and maintain compact behavioral models for use in system simulations
Assess, define, and negotiate MEMS device specifications based on system requirements
Evaluate silicon and systems solutions (hardware and software) and related documentation
Gather user requirements, translate them to functional specifications, and implement solutions and enhancement projects
Provide complete documentation for each development lifecycle step
Perform troubleshooting and debugging on issues related to the system
Qualification
Required
Minimum education Masters of Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or ECE
Minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0
Preferred
Extensive experience with MEMS and EM modeling FEM tools (COMSOL, ANSYS) and Cadence IC design tools
Deep understanding of high frequency SAW/BAW devices
Solid understanding of Si-photonics/MEMS manufacturing processes
Understanding of high performance modulators for Si-photonics with a special focus on material considerations
Fundamental understanding of wave propagation in solid media
Proficiency in MEMS/EM FEM modeling (COMSOL, ANSYS)
Proficiency in Cadence custom IC design tools
Proficiency in signal processing tools (Matlab, Python)
Understanding of and experience with schematic design, PCB layout, circuit debugging and system testing
Ability to establish strong relationships with key stakeholders critical to success, both internally and externally
Strong verbal and written communication skills to audiences of varied background
Ability to simplify complex problems and navigate uncertainty
Ability to quickly ramp on new systems and processes
Demonstrated strong interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively with people in different functions
Ability to take the initiative and drive for results
Strong time management skills that enable on-time project delivery
