Legal Counsel
Robert Half is partnering with a well-established construction and home-services company known for high-quality workmanship and exceptional client satisfaction to add an In-House Counsel to their growing team. The In-House Counsel will handle a broad range of legal matters including compliance, employment law, contract negotiation, and litigation management, working closely with executive leadership and other stakeholders to ensure legal compliance across all areas.
Responsibilities
Manage and file OSHA claims, ensuring accurate reporting, documentation, and regulatory compliance
Oversee and litigate collections matters, including pursuing/defending claims, drafting pleadings, and negotiating settlements
Handle wage garnishment processes in accordance with federal and state requirements
Advise on HR and employment law issues such as hiring/termination, employee disputes, workplace policies, wage & hour matters, and discrimination claims
Prepare and file annual reports and maintain business compliance across all jurisdictions
Provide counsel on licensing, permitting, and contractual risk management
Draft, review, and negotiate construction, vendor, and client contracts
Represent the company in mediations, arbitrations, and legal proceedings
Monitor changes in relevant laws and proactively update company policies
Collaborate with executives, project managers, HR, and outside counsel to address legal needs
Conduct legal research and deliver clear, actionable recommendations
Ensure company operations remain compliant with federal, state, and local regulations
Handle additional legal matters as assigned
Qualification
Required
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
Active license to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a legal role, preferably in-house or in a law firm
Strong knowledge of employment law, contract negotiation, and litigation management
Experience with OSHA claims and regulatory compliance
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders including executives and project managers
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in legal research and writing
