Data Engineer, Powertrain & Field Reliability
Tesla’s Field Reliability Engineering team is on a mission to enhance the customer experience by identifying and resolving field issues. As a Data Engineer, you will leverage big-data analytics to transform raw data into meaningful visualizations and tools, driving improvements in vehicle reliability and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities
Analyze service and vehicle data to extract actionable insights, identify field failure trends, and drive product improvements
Develop, maintain, and optimize ETL pipelines and CI/CD workflows for data processing and analysis
Build and enhance applications and tools leveraging Splunk, Spark, Python, and Kubernetes
Create dashboards and visualizations using Tableau, Matplotlib, or Plotly to communicate trends and findings effectively
Conduct statistical analyses to quantify reliability risks and detect emerging trends
Support and troubleshoot application-level issues to ensure robust system performance
Maintain and improve data systems, pipelines, and dashboards in response to business needs and drive continuous improvements
Qualification
Required
Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Math, or equivalent experience
3+ years working with advanced data analysis tools
2+ years with Python, Splunk, Spark, and SQL. Advanced Spark API experience preferred
Proficiency in data visualization tools (Tableau, Matplotlib, Plotly)
Strong understanding of statistical analysis techniques, including reliability statistics (Weibull Analysis preferred)
Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD processes
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy
Strong ability to collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver impactful solutions
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Passion for data and data-driven decision-making
