The Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce is seeking a visionary President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the organization in enhancing regional prosperity and supporting a thriving business climate. Responsibilities

Develop and execute a clear, forward-looking biennial strategic plan that advances economic vitality across the Greater Susquehanna Valley
Serve as a thought leader and convener on issues affecting local businesses and regional competitiveness
Monitor trends, anticipate challenges, and proactively position the Chamber as a catalyst for growth
Ensure effective use of technology and digital platforms to enhance member engagement, communication and operational efficiency
Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performance professional staff and volunteers; foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence
Establish clear goals, performance metrics, and expectations for both staff/volunteers and organizational outcomes
Demonstrate high emotional intelligence in navigating relationships, communication, and organizational dynamics
Build and maintain strong relationships with local, state, and federal government officials
Advocate for policies that support business interests, economic growth, and community development
Represent the Chamber in public forums, legislative hearings, and community initiatives
Oversee the Chamber’s financial health, including budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning
Demonstrate strong financial acumen to ensure sustainability and strategic investment
Lead financial actions, including major sponsorships, grants, and member investment opportunities; serve as a confident and capable closer in development and partnership conversations
Achieve annual growth in membership, sponsorship(s), and retention targets as set by the Board of Directors
Serve as the Chamber’s top sales leader—able to articulate value, build trust, and close key membership and investment opportunities
Engage with current and prospective members to understand needs and deliver meaningful value
Collaborate closely with the Board of Directors to ensure strong governance practices and alignment with organizational priorities
Provide timely, transparent, and data-informed reporting to support decision-making and strategic oversight
Act as the “public face and voice of the Chamber” at conferences, events, and with the media
Manage communications across all platforms (e.g. social media, newsletters, websites, correspondence, etc.) maintaining the Chamber’s visibility and reputation
Build strong relationships across business, nonprofit, civic, and educational sectors
Leverage strong familiarity with the region’s culture, economy, and key stakeholders to advance collaborative progress

Required

Demonstrated experience in executive leadership, preferably within a chamber of commerce, economic development organization, or related business/community-focused entity
Proven track record as a strategic thinker who can translate vision into action
High emotional intelligence (EQ) —skilled in communication, relationship-building, and conflict resolution
A builder of high-performance teams with a leadership style grounded in integrity, empathy, and accountability
Background in government relations, public policy, or advocacy
Strong financial management competencies
Business relationship expertise, with the ability to cultivate sponsorships, secure investment, and close high-value opportunities
Excellent judge of character with strong discernment in hiring, partnerships, and strategic decisions
Superior communication, public speaking, and stakeholder engagement skills
Deep connection to, or knowledge of, the Greater Susquehanna Valley region (or willingness to rapidly develop such familiarity)
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in business, public administration, nonprofit leadership, economic development, marketing, or related fields
Minimum of 5 years' experience in executive or senior-level leadership roles, preferably within a Chamber of Commerce, business association, or mission-driven organization, including supervision of direct reports
