Head of Talent & People
Hirewell is supporting a confidential search for a senior people leader at a remote-first company entering its next phase of growth. The role involves owning talent and people strategy, execution, and day-to-day operations while helping to scale the organization thoughtfully over time without losing its unique culture.
Responsibilities
Translate business strategy into people systems including org design, headcount planning, leadership development, culture stewardship, and talent practices
Partner closely with a founder who values long-term thinking, durability, and building a company meant to last decades
Measure people strategy success, connecting initiatives to business outcomes like overall and program-level ROI, revenue per employee, and sustained business performance
Start as a lean, hands-on function (HR team of 1) and grow intentionally
Qualification
Required
You've helped scale an organization from early-stage to 100+ employees (or beyond)
You come from a bootstrapped or privately held, grow-and-hold environment. Often founder-led, Tugboat Institute–affiliated, '100-year company' minded, ESOP-backed, or aligned with long-term ownership models (not PE scale-and-sell)
You're comfortable being both a strategic partner to leadership and the person who actually builds the systems
You care deeply about People culture, not as a slogan, but as a business advantage
You have the itch to do this again and do it even better
