Data Engineer
GridHawk Holdings is the parent company of GridHawk LLC and LineQuest LLC, which are leaders in underground utility locating. The Data Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines and integration processes to enable data collection, storage, and analysis across multiple platforms.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows to extract, transform, and load data from multiple source systems
Create integrations with key operational applications using APIs, data streaming, direct SQL connections, and log shipping
Manage data ingestion processes using tools such as Airbyte, Fivetran, or similar data integration solutions
Develop and optimize data models and transformations using DBT and other modern data frameworks
Build and maintain data environments in Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, and AWS Glue
Work closely with the Data Analytics team to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and readiness for business intelligence and reporting use cases
Maintain documentation for data sources, pipeline designs, data models, and process automation
Implement data governance and security practices in collaboration with the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure teams
Troubleshoot and resolve data pipeline issues and performance bottlenecks
Continuously evaluate and implement new technologies and methods to improve data reliability and efficiency
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field
3–7 years of hands-on experience in data engineering, ETL/ELT development, or database integration roles
Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming/scripting language
Strong experience with Snowflake, DBT, Airbyte, and Microsoft SQL Server
Familiarity with Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue, or other cloud-based ETL tools
Understanding of data warehouse and data lakehouse architectures
Experience with API integration, JSON, and RESTful data exchange
Knowledge of data modeling, schema design, and metadata management
Familiarity with version control (Git) and CI/CD deployment practices
Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities
Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and business teams
Preferred
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field
Python
Experience with Microsoft Fabric and Power BI
