Responsibilities

Performing Winding inspection, electrical testing, maintenance and repairs on Generator HV windings on customer sites globally
Carrying out basic mechanical strip-down (and rebuild) of machines to gain access to the generator windings
Carrying out electrical testing on high and low voltage windings in the field
Carrying out visual winding inspections of the stator, rotor and excitation system
Carrying out in-situ generator winding repairs including stator re-wedge work
Working as part of a team for on-site stator strip and rewind operations
Assisting mechanical service engineer(s) on assignments, which will not necessarily involve winding related activities
Supervising and training internal and external customers
Interpreting technical drawings, specifications and technical requirements; prepare method statements and prepare detailed and concise reports for submission to customers. Attend technical meetings on site and at customers’ premises
Carrying out an on-site risk assessment on every assignment
Carrying out other reasonable duties as directed from time to time by the Field Service Manager

Required

Have relevant experience in winding of electrical generators
Have been qualified through a recognized craft apprenticeship in armature winding on large high‑voltage rotating electrical machines
Have experience working on various model generator windings
Have competence in soldering, brazing, crimping and high‑voltage insulating procedures
Have the ability to be self‑sufficient, resourceful and an effective problem solver
Have strength of character and high levels of energy
Have the ability to communicate effectively, being fluent in both spoken and written English
Have the capability to undertake extensive overseas and offshore work, often for extended periods
Have experience representing the company at customer sites and operating remotely on own initiative while meeting required standards
