IT Telecom Engineer
Fort Worth ISD is focused on providing quality education and support to its students and staff. They are seeking an IT Telecom Engineer to oversee the operations of their unified communications system, manage telecommunications incidents, and support various projects related to voice services and collaboration environments.
Responsibilities
Maintains a thorough understanding of internet workings including DNS, IP Routing, VPNs, and so forth
Configures and sets up switches, routers, and collaboration hardware for communication connectivity
Designs, sets up and configures complex environments for call routing and forwarding, video collaboration systems, reporting, and other related architectures
Implements new applications to support internal and external customers
Designs and maintains mediation and collection flows for voice networks
Designs and maintains provisioning flows for voice networks
Designs and maintains routing paradigms for voice calls
Configures translations and routing rules for voice calls
Supports softphone and video collaboration through documentation and internal end user training
Maintains a thorough understanding of Local Area Networking
Responds to inquiries from staff, administrators, service providers, site personnel, and outside vendors to provide technical assistance and support
Administers systems and servers related to video collaboration and telephony communications to ensure availability of services to authorized users
Troubleshoots network hardware and software applications, telephones, and connected security systems to resolve operational issues and restore services
Creates and maintains documentation and diagrams of the District collaboration systems
Documents and responds to issue request assignments using District ticket system
Works with team to maintain and deploy Fax Over IP (FoIP) solutions
Works with various departments to maintain, implement, and improve quality of communication
Qualification
Required
Accredited High School diploma, GED, or Texas Certificate of High School Equivalency required
3-7 years' IT experience supporting large, networked telephony/collaboration environments required
Preferred
Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university in a related field preferred
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification preferred
