HIGHWAY SAFETY FIELD REPRESENTATIVE

The State of New Hampshire's Department of Safety is seeking a Highway Safety Field Representative to coordinate the development of highway safety programs statewide. This role involves evaluating safety needs, providing training, and overseeing grant processes to enhance road safety initiatives.

Responsibilities

Initiates contact with law enforcement/highway safety partners (potential grantees) throughout the state to encourage active participation in NHOHS grant funded activities to minimize crashes and the resulting injuries and deaths on New Hampshire roads . Provides and distributes highway safety information (i.e. brochures, posters, pamphlets, etc.) to highway safety partners and the public
Provides training to grantees or potential grantees on grant program processes, procedures and requirements to ensure compliance with federal rules and regulations associated with NHTSA
Participates in the funding allocation process to ensure funding methodology and other important information is included in the decision making process of how much funding should be allocated to a potential grantee invited to participate in the highway safety grant program
Assists potential grantees with the application process and reviews applications to ensure information is accurate and complete to consider for potential funding
Assists grantees with developing the scope of work and applicable requirements for highway safety projects and constructs grant agreements and amendments for grant funding recipients
Maintains records in the Highway Safety database to document grant activities reported by grantees conducting highway safety projects and ensures the appropriate documents are received for project evaluation reviews and for state audit and/or NHTSA Management reviews
Monitors grantee projects by reviewing various reports to determine the impact and cost effectiveness of the project and to verify compliance with state and federal requirements
Reviews reimbursement requests received from grantees for accuracy of request before submitting to accountant for processing
Prepares and presents highway safety public information and educational programs for schools, health groups/organizations, state agencies, civic groups, etc. on highway safety programs and issues . Assist with the preparation, planning, and coordination of NHTSA assessments such as impaired driving, occupant protection, traffic records, and distracted driving as well as highway safety conferences
Assists in the development of the highway safety plan and the annual report to target areas for funding and to evaluate the success of grant funded projects

Required

Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience OR equivalent combination of 7 years of education and experience after completion of high school
Education and experience must be in the fields of administration, economics, law enforcement, management, highway safety or enforcement, or other allied government regulatory activity
Valid driver's license
Selected candidate will undergo a fingerprint based criminal background check and motor vehicle record check in order to ensure suitability for exposure to confidential information
Some night travel and out-of-state travel required, as well as travel in inclement weather

Preferred

Work experience in a vehicular transportation agency
