Staff Accountant

Responsibilities

Perform daily accounting functions, including journal entries, account reconciliations, payroll allocations, and cash management
Maintain the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely posting of all transactions in compliance with GAAP, FAR, and CAS
Support the preparation of indirect cost pools (Fringe, Overhead, G&A) and assist in maintaining compliance with the company’s Disclosure Statement and Provisional Billing Rates
Prepare and review invoices for Cost-Reimbursable, T&M, and FFP contracts in compliance with customer and DCMA/DCAA requirements
Assist with cost submissions incurred, forward pricing rate proposals, and other regulatory filings
Support DCMA/DCAA audits, providing documentation, reconciliations, and explanations as required
Participate in the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Assist with financial statement preparation and variance analysis
Collaborate with Contracts, Program Management, and HR teams to ensure proper labor charging, indirect cost allocations, and compliance with contract terms
Maintain organized audit-ready files and support internal and external audit requests
Contribute to process improvements to strengthen internal controls and financial reporting efficiency

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
Working knowledge of FAR, DFARS, and CAS
Strong Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, financial modeling)
Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
High attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to maintain confidentiality

Preferred

4-8 years of accounting experience in a government contracting environment preferred
Experience with DCMA or DCAA audits is highly preferred
Familiarity with preparing incurred cost submissions and cost pool reconciliations
Proficiency in accounting software; experience with Deltek Costpoint, Unanet, or similar GovCon ERP systems is a plus
Prior experience in a mid-size to large government contracting firm
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams
Demonstrated understanding of indirect rate structures and cost allocations
Audit support experience with DCMA, DCAA, or external CPA firms
