Chief Compliance Officer
Conselium Compliance Search is seeking a Chief Compliance Officer to lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive compliance program for a regional hospice business. The role involves strategic oversight, compliance risk assessment, and collaboration with key stakeholders to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the CEO and Board and managing a small team, the Chief Compliance Officer is responsible for the overall strategic direction, development, implementation and oversight of an effective compliance program for a regional hospice business operating in five states
Development and implementation of a comprehensive compliance program, ensuring all areas of the company have an understanding of compliance obligations and all applicable laws, rules, and regulations; create a compliance-conducive environment in which company policies and procedures are the operating norm
Conduct a comprehensive compliance risk-assessment, assessing compliance program needs and building / augmenting the program to fit with legal and regulatory requirements while accounting for business growth opportunities
Leading HIPAA Privacy compliance, including policies and procedures and training as necessary; managing BAA (Business Associate Agreements), EHR security / access controls, etc
Establish and run an effective Board-level Compliance Committee, and work collaboratively with C-Level functions and all key stakeholders
Lead and accelerate change management and transformational growth
Functions as a subject matter expert to colleagues for compliance-related information
Maintain a comprehensive understanding of applicable laws and regulations for Hospice businesses, including but not limited to Medicare guidelines, eligibility requirements, quality expectations, hospice payment & caps and state licensure
Lead and conduct internal and external Hospice audit program, providing results and action points as necessary to executives and the Board
Develop, review, update internal compliance policies, procedures, tools, and resources to ensure compliance with applicable obligations, including requirements imposed by with Federal and State healthcare programs
Work cross-functionally alongside leaders in medical, operations and sales to train, communicate, and educate employees on the legal and ethical standards that apply to their jobs
Oversee processes to ensure no employee, medical staff member, or independent contractor appears on the List of Excluded Individuals/Entities, the General Services Administration (GSA) list of debarred contractors, or State excluded providers list
Responsible for all facets of investigation and investigation reporting on matters related to compliance
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree
Several years of senior level Hospice compliance experience, ideally including experience working with Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs)
Demonstrate a hands-on approach to building and improving compliance, ethics and privacy programs
