Project Engineer/Coordinator

Modern Construction and Facilities Maintenance specializes in the renovation and commercial construction of various properties. The Project Engineer/Coordinator supports the administrative coordination, financial management, and technical execution of construction projects, ensuring job costing accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.

Construction

Responsibilities

Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and submittals
Prepare and process RFIs, change orders, and technical documentation
Maintain project schedules, organize meetings, and manage permits and compliance documentation
Serve as the communication hub between field teams, design professionals, and stakeholders
Monitor budgets, forecasts, and actual costs for all assigned projects
Ensure accurate job cost allocation and maintain Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules
Review and approve project-related invoices and expense reports
Work closely with Project Managers, Estimators, and Operations teams to align financial and operational goals
Manage progress billing and ensure compliance with contract terms
Process change orders and update financial projections accordingly
Ensure proper revenue recognition in accordance with company policies
Prepare monthly project financial reports for management
Conduct variance analysis and recommend corrective actions
Support project managers with financial insights for decision-making
Maintain adherence to internal controls and accounting standards
Assist with internal and external audits related to project accounting

Required

3+ years of experience in construction project support, engineer, or project finance
Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP reporting, and contract accounting
Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Viewpoint, Sage, Procore) and project management tools
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Accounting, Finance, or related field
CPA or CMA certification
