10+ years expInsight Global is seeking a Principal Motor Applications Engineer to help kick off a proof‑of‑concept and prototype motor project. This role requires a senior, hands-on motor expert who will advise multiple engineering teams and focus on applications engineering for new/custom motor solutions.

Responsibilities
Support the kickoff of a new prototype + POC motor initiative, driving technical direction in a fluid, rapid‑change environment
Serve as a senior advisor to engineering teams, providing guidance on feasibility, design decisions, and overall applications strategy
Lead applications advisement for new product concepts, including custom motor solutions and system integration
Apply deep knowledge of motor design principles, materials, electrical systems, and cross‑functional integration
Collaborate closely with the China engineering team, requiring night calls, flexible scheduling, and global communication alignment
Contribute to the development of accelerated life‑testing for motors—building processes, test methods, and reliability frameworks from scratch
Ensure all motor designs meet feasibility, manufacturability, quality assurance, regulatory, and durability standards
Work in a hybrid, hands‑on capacity with time spent in the Needham, MA office/lab as needed
Act as a foundational technical leader as the company builds out a 26–29‑person motor engineering organization
Qualification
Required
10+ years minimum in motor engineering; 15–20+ years is the ideal candidate
Deep, practical motor background (not theoretical):
Power tools (e.g., Black & Decker)
Consumer electronics (e.g., cell phone motor components)
Robotics / automation
Exposure to motors across different sizes, electrical systems, and regulatory environments
Hands‑on experience with motor design principles
Hands‑on experience with applications engineering
Hands‑on experience with feasibility assessment
Hands‑on experience with manufacturing processes
Hands‑on experience with QA, regulatory, UL/IEC standards
Hands‑on experience with motor testing + life‑testing
Hands‑on experience with accelerated life testing (big plus if they've built or contributed to proprietary methods)
Ability to work seamlessly with international teams, particularly China
Ideally local to Massachusetts or open to relocation
Strong communication and collaboration skills; able to mentor, influence, and drive alignment
Preferred
Mandarin language skills - Strongly Preferred
Experience leading engineering teams or building testing frameworks from the ground up
Background across multiple motor‑related industries
