Hardware Engineer
Edge Staffing is seeking an experienced Hardware Exploitation Engineer to support mission-critical national security work. This role focuses on the hands-on examination, modification, and reverse engineering of electronic devices and digital storage media to extract data and analyze vulnerabilities.
Responsibilities
Examine and exploit digital storage media and electronic devices including hard drives, flash storage, mobile devices, and embedded systems
Reverse engineer hardware and firmware to understand functionality, vulnerabilities, and data pathways
Modify hardware components to enable forensic access or data extraction
Perform chip-level analysis including inspection, imaging, decapsulation, and deprocessing
Use advanced lab tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers
Develop and improve hardware exploitation techniques, tools, and methodologies
Act as a technical subject matter expert supporting government and defense stakeholders
Produce clear, accurate reports for both technical and non-technical audiences
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering, IT, or related field
Significant hands-on experience in hardware exploitation, reverse engineering, or embedded systems analysis
Strong programming experience (C/C++, Python, Assembly; HDL experience a plus)
Experience working with multiple operating systems including Linux, Windows, mobile, or embedded OS
Knowledge of common hardware and communication protocols (JTAG, SPI, I2C, UART, TCP/IP, etc.)
Proven ability to troubleshoot at the circuit-board and component level
Hands-on soldering/desoldering experience
Strong technical documentation and reporting skills
MUST HAVE ACTIVE Top Secret (TS/SCI) SECURITY CLEARANCE
Preferred
Embedded or proprietary OS reverse engineering
Microelectronics or chip-level forensic analysis
Use of static analysis and reverse engineering tools
Prior work supporting defense, intelligence, or national security missions
