Interventional Fellow in Complex PCI & TAVI (Post CCT equivalent)

They are seeking an Interventional Fellow in Complex PCI & TAVI to gain extensive first operator experience under the supervision of TAVI consultant cardiologists, participating in patient care and training in TAVI procedures.

Responsibilities

Participate extensively under the supervision of all the TAVI consultant cardiologists
Gain extensive first operator experience
Training in analysis and interpretation of cardiac CT for patients being assessed for TAVI
Participate in the pre- and post-procedural care of patients they have performed procedures upon
Regularly attend the TAVI MDTs
Work as part of the TAVI team, including 6/7 TAVI lab sessions and 1 TAVI clinic per week
Record data from lab patients in local databases, write discharge summaries and communicate with General Practitioners
Attend and participate at the weekly TAVI MDT meeting, other educational meetings and the relevant quality assurance programme
Accountable in their clinical duties to the consultants whose patients they are managing, the Clinical Director of cardiothoracic services, and ultimately to the Medical Director of the trust

Required

Primary Medical Qualification
Full GMC registration at the time of application
Satisfactory completion of Foundation Training or equivalent and General Cardiology training
Experience of PCI procedures, including complex PCI
Proactive care of pre- and post-procedural patients
Insight into abilities and knowledge, and the ability to ask for help when required
Written evidence of satisfactory training to date e.g. workplace assessments
Experience of teaching undergraduate medical students & Foundation Doctors
Experience of audit projects
Understanding of research principles
Ability to communicate clearly and fluently in the English language
Ability to communicate and liaise effectively with patients and other people within a multidisciplinary team
Neat, legible writing of notes/charts
Alignment with the Trust's Values
Flexible approach to service delivery and committed approach to development
A commitment to personal / unit CPD
Time management skills
Honesty, integrity, awareness of ethical dilemmas, respect for confidentiality

Preferred

Higher research degree in a PCI-related topic
High volume first-operator experience (>400 cases) of PCI procedures
Willingness to develop new approaches to teaching and learning
Publications/abstracts in PCI/TAVI research
Evidence of leadership skills
IT literate
